James Richfield

FPFS, Chartered Financial Planner, Managing Director

James began a career in finance straight after A Levels, working for Barclays Bank in the South East of England before moving to the North East in 1995. In 1996 he qualified as a Financial Adviser, working with both Barclays and Commercial Union before becoming a Partner with St. James’s Place in March 2001.

In October 2005 James and Peter Grieves joined together and formed The Morpeth Practice, which grew organically to one of the largest SJP businesses in the country, managing in excess of £350 million. In October 2020 they welcomed three new Directors to the Board of the newly rebranded business TMP Wealth Management.

James is a Chartered Financial Planner and further qualified to become a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society, as well as holding specialist advice qualifications in retirement planning and investment. As one of the Managing Directors of TMP Wealth Management his time is also spent running a busy and dynamic environment.

Outside of work James’ passion is Rugby. A long term Newcastle Falcons and England supporter, he also sits on the management board of his old club Morpeth RFC and is Chair of Youth Rugby with responsibility for 360 players from the ages of 6 to 16. He also enjoys walking his fox-red Labrador, Ted.

Peter Grieves

Chartered Financial Planner, Managing Director

Peter began his career in financial services back in 1989 after graduating from the University of Birmingham. He took up his first job at Endsleigh Insurance Services in Newcastle upon Tyne.

After spells with Black Horse Financial Services and then LloydsTSB Private Banking, he accepted an offer to become a Partner at St. James’s Place Wealth Management in 2003 before going on to form The Morpeth Practice in 2005 with James Richfield.

Peter is a Chartered Financial Planner and together with James, has helped grow the business to a point where they now manage in excess of £350 million on behalf of their clients. Together they oversaw the successful re-branding of the company to TMP Wealth Management in 2020.

Away from his work, he is a proud family man with 2 children and 2 dogs who enjoys watching a number of sports. He is also an active committee member for the North East Region of the Lord’s Taverners Charity.

Gary Oselton

Director

Gary has worked in Financial Services for over 30 years. He provides a broad range of advice to clients, helping them with practical solutions to the financial issues that concern them most.

Gary enjoys creating trusted and long-lasting relationships with his clients and becoming their dedicated Adviser and source of advice.

Doing the simple things well and the complex things even better allows Gary to provide a distinct and individual client experience.

His areas of expertise are:
– Retirement Planning – pre and post-retirement.
– Investment Planning – help you manage, grow and pass on your wealth.
– Estate Planning – preserve your wealth, Trust Planning.

Gary has specialist Chartered Insurance Institute qualifications covering financial planning, trusts, pension and investment planning.

He is married with 3 grown-up children and 4 grandchildren and is an avid football fan and loves to travel.

Trusts are not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.

Glenn Bolton

Director

Glenn graduated from Liverpool John Moores University in 2005 and began his career as a mortgage broker in Newcastle. He later joined Lloyds Bank before moving to St. James’s Place Wealth Management in 2012, where he successfully completed the London Academy program as a diploma-qualified Wealth Management Consultant.

Since joining TMP Wealth Management, formerly The Morpeth Practice, Glenn has become a specialist in Defined Benefit Pension Transfers and in 2015 became a member of the Society of Later Life Advisers. He also is our representative supporting our clients who are Professional Sportspersons. He is completing further institute examinations and is on the road to Chartered status.

Outside of work, Glenn’s time is taken up by his young family, although he still manages to find time on the golf course.

Dan Smith

Director

Dan joined TMP Wealth Management in 2013 in a Marketing and Business Development role, before qualifying as a Financial Adviser through the St. James’s Place Wealth Management Next Generation Academy in 2015. He is currently working towards achieving Chartered Financial Planner status.

Having graduated from University in 2005 with a degree in English Literature, Dan worked in Media and Account Management before taking the decision to join the Wealth Management profession. Dan particularly enjoys building long-lasting and trusted relationships with clients, and helping with plans for the future for them and their family.

Dan is a regular gym goer and is a season ticket holder at Newcastle United.

Tony Hopper

Operation Director

Tony joined the Financial Services industry in April 1990, initially with Royal London before successfully running his own Financial Services business for 10 years. Prior to joining TMP Wealth Management as Operations Director in September 2022, Tony spent 12 years as an Executive Partnership Development Manager with St. James’s Place.

Tony is responsible for the successful growth of TMP Wealth Management which includes the day-to-day management of the business, and Financial Adviser development.

In his leisure time Tony likes to spend time with his family, holidays abroad and watching and playing sports including football and golf.

Sean Shabilla

Financial Adviser

After leaving school, Sean pursued a career in the motor industry, spending 8 years working for Audi as an Account Manager. In 2018 he left Audi, relocated to Manchester, and joined the St. James’s Place Academy as the next stage of his journey to becoming a diploma qualified Wealth Management Consultant.

Now back in the North East, he is an integral part of the advice team at TMP Wealth Management and works with clients to guide them through diverse areas of personal financial planning.

Outside of work Sean has a passion for boxing. He held regional titles and competed in over 20 competitions as an amateur, before hanging up his gloves in 2016 to focus on his career and young family.

Kristian Drysdale

Financial Adviser

After graduating from Sunderland University Kristian began his career in Sports Coaching before moving into the Motor Trade in 2015, working for some major brands including Audi, Land Rover, and Volkswagen in various sales related roles.

Most recently in 2022, Kristian joined the St. James’s Place Academy and graduated in June of 2023 as a qualified Financial Planner. Working alongside the team at TMP, Kristian assists clients through all their financial needs.

Away from work Kristian spends most of his time with his family, while enjoying playing football and golf when time allows. He also owns a track day car to enjoy during the summer months.

Dan Croker

Financial Adviser

Dan emigrated to the UK from New Zealand in 2013. After working in various roles in hospitality (including restaurants and wedding venues) he decided on a career change in late 2019. He successfully completed the St. James’s Place Academy programme and joined TMP Wealth Management as a qualified Financial Adviser.

He is pleased to have gained the necessary qualifications to help clients with their financial planning needs. He continues to look to develop his financial knowledge with both institutional and internal accreditations and exams.

When Dan isn’t working on his new career, he has a passion for sports. An avid golfer, he is a member of Close House Golf Club and also a big fan of rugby and cricket. As a New Zealander in the UK, this brings its share of ups and downs.

Claire Wilkinson

Financial Adviser

After leaving school, Claire pursued a career in the Financial Services industry, spending 18 years working for Barclays Bank in various roles.

In 2022, Claire left Barclays and joined the St. James’ Place Academy, which she has since successfully completed, enabling her to embark on a career as a qualified Financial Adviser.

Claire is an integral part of the advice Team at TMP Wealth Management and works with clients to guide them through their Financial planning needs.

Outside of work, Claire enjoys spending time with her young family and travelling abroad.

Jonathan Dowson

FPFS, Chartered Financial Planner

Jonathan has 20 years’ experience working in financial services. He became a Financial Planner with St. James’s Place in 2007 and joined TMP Wealth Management in 2021.

He is a Chartered Financial Planner and a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society.

In his personal life, Jonathan is a keen cyclist and golfer, and enjoys fell walking with his family.

Justin Lockwood

Communications Consultant

Justin joined TMP Wealth Management in 2019, after working in the media industry for the last 25 years. He most recently presented the breakfast show on Heart before forming his own PR company. At TMP he handles external communications with a specific focus on PR and Social Media.

He lives in Morpeth with his wife Kerry and 2 children, Alfie and Jersey. You might also spot him hosting events at NUFC, Newcastle Falcons and Newcastle Racecourse.

He enjoys anything sport-related, and loves a walk through Carlisle Park with his dog Chester.

Stefanie Corbett

Practice Manager

Stefanie is the longest standing team member, having worked for James since 2002.

Her role has grown over the years. Having been a Personal Assistant and Paraplanner, she is now the Practice Manager responsible for Client Service delivery.

Stefanie is married and has recently started a family. She enjoys walking, reading and cooking.

Laura Fuller

Senior Paraplanner

Laura started as an apprentice with TMP Wealth Management in 2008. On completion of her apprenticeship she moved into a client-facing role, before progressing into paraplanning.

Laura is married and has two young sons. She currently works part time and is committed to spending valuable time with her boys whilst they are growing up. In what spare time she has left, Laura is a keen runner and cyclist, and has taken part in several events in Northumberland.

Pam Purvis

Senior Paraplanner

Pam began her career in the financial services industry in 1979 working at Barclays Bank for over 17 years in various roles including Cashier, Loans Officer, and Debt Recovery Specialist.

After bringing up her family and working part time for a Mortgage Broker she gained her CeMap qualification and joined St. James’s Place in 2005 as a Mortgage Adviser. She switched career path in 2009 and continues to enjoy her role as Senior Paraplanner preparing reports and client recommendations with the Advice Team.

Pam has two grown up children and in her spare time enjoys travelling overseas and long walks with her Sprocker Spaniel Dexter.

Gemma Stone

Paraplanner

Having graduated from The University of Leeds in 2004 with a degree in Law, Gemma chose to follow a different career path and joined an Independent Financial Advisers in Newcastle. She worked there for 16 years before joining TMP Wealth Management in March 2020.  In her role as an experienced paraplanner, she works with the Advice team in preparing Client recommendations.

Outside of work Gemma enjoys spending time with her young family and travelling abroad.

Janice Stephens

Paraplanner

Janice has worked in financial services since the age of 18, starting as an office junior at Midland  Bank, working her way up through various roles as a Mortgage Adviser, Financial Advisor and latterly as an Area Sales Manager with HSBC. After leaving HSBC she decided to make a career change and as she had already achieved her Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning, it was a natural transition for her to become a paraplanner in 2019. Janice now works with the Advice team in preparing client recommendations.

Janice is married with two grown up sons and loves nothing more than spending quality time with her husband.

Max Bell

Paraplanner

Max joined TMP in September 2022 as a Paraplanner, following a career change from Personal Taxation, having worked in that sector with Ernst & Young from the age of 18.

Max is qualified with The Association of Taxation Technicians and also holds a Certificate of Finance, Accounting and Business with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

He will begin working towards his Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning in 2023.

Max is a regular gym user and keen sportsman, playing cricket, football and golf as regularly as he can.

Kay Gibson

Pension Technician

Kay began her career in financial services in 2002 with HSBC bank after working in retail since leaving school.

She worked alongside her fiancé, Jonathan, who is a Chartered Financial Planner, running their own business until 2021 when she joined TMP Wealth Management as a Pension Technician.

Kay has two sons and loves spending her time outdoors with her family and their dog, Ruby, in the Lake District and Scotland.

Isabel Stephenson

Associate to Managing Director

Isabel joined TMP Wealth Management in January 2023, working as an Associate to Managing Director, James Richfield. Prior to joining the practice, she completed her degree in Mathematics at Newcastle University.

After completion of her degree, she moved back home to North Lincolnshire, but this only lasted a few months before deciding to permanently move back to Newcastle.

Isabel’s role also includes training to become a Financial Adviser, where she will begin working towards her Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning in 2024, through the St. James’s Place Academy.

Isabel spends most of her free time socialising with friends and family or attending various gym classes, although she tries to stay clear of spin classes!’

Anna Moat

Executive PA

After completing her A levels Anna joined a Consumer Finance Company where she spent nearly 12 years developing her career in supporting Directors and Office Management. Anna gained professional experience in customer service, HR, team building, event planning and systems analysis. It gave her the opportunity to travel on a regular basis and manage sales and administration offices across 6 regions in the UK. Following redundancy, Anna was then lucky enough to join a ‘Superyacht Management Company,’ which was a great and exciting opportunity for progressing her career even further. Anna soon became a core member of the team supporting the Managing Director as PA, supporting client charters and management processes, ensuring all clients were well looked after and their requirements were met to the highest of standards.

In her spare time Anna enjoys spending it with family and friends. Anna has a daughter who keeps her busy. Anna loves to travel, enjoying holidays abroad especially Cyprus and thoroughly enjoys going to the theatre as well as discovering new restaurants to try. She can cook reasonably well but would rather dine out in social time given the choice, although Anna has been partial to ‘Hello Fresh’ since lock down!

Gabrielle Conroy

Executive PA

Gabrielle joined TMP Wealth Management in January 2018 after working for the NHS for over 10 years in a variety of administration roles.

She is now Executive Assistant to Managing Director, Peter Grieves, and assists him in the running of the business as well as dealing with ongoing Client enquiries.

Since joining TMP, she has successfully completed her Partnership Support Staff Accreditation, demonstrating her commitment to providing excellent Client service.

Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her family, including her children and two dogs and explores the lovely Northumbrian scenery.

Rachel Smith

Partner PA

Rachel started as an apprentice at TMP Wealth Management in 2010, completing an NVQ level 2 in business admin and working in a front-desk, client facing role and supporting the directors/partners in the office. She is now in a Paraplanner Support role.

Rachel enjoys spending time with her young family and friends outside of work. She is keen to explore the local countryside and loves spending her days off walking, cooking elaborate meals, and consuming a TV boxset.

Rachel Robson

Director PA

Rachel started work at TMP Wealth Management in February 2014 after successfully completing an NVQ in Business Administration Level 2 at Northumberland College. She continued working towards further qualifications, completing her NVQ Business Administration Level 3 in her first year at TMP.

Rachel has also successfully completed her St. James’s Place Administrator and PA accreditation and now looks after the senior Wealth Management Consultants and their clients.

In her spare time Rachel attends regular gym classes and enjoys spending time with friends and family.

Emily Smart

Director PA

Emily started working for TMP Wealth Management in July 2017. Prior to joining the practice, she gained her Level 3 Extended Diploma Qualification in Business Studies at Newcastle College.

Emily has enjoyed a variety of roles within the practice and is now a Director PA, supporting our Consultants and their clients with all administration needs.

In her spare time Emily enjoys watching football and spending time with her family & friends.

Dee Hughes

Administration Support

Dee has been with TMP Wealth Management since February 2018. Prior to joining, she spent six years working as a manager in the Hotel & Hospitality in venues across Northumberland.

She also lived in Portugal for 14 years, running several bars in a very busy part of the Algarve before returning to the UK.

Dee enjoys socialising outside of work, as well as spending as much quality time with her family as she can.
